Bro. Jevon Smith
Brother Jevon Smith is a recent graduate of American International College. In May 2020, he was graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology & Sociology. As of right now, Bro. Smith is pursuing opportunities to work in youth resources and education. He plans to further his education by seeking graduate studies in counseling. Bro. Smith was initiated into Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., via Gamma Alpha Xi Chapter in Spring 2020.
While in college, Bro. Smith participated in many clubs and organizations which celebrated race, sexuality, and inclusivity. He took on leadership roles in Residential Life, Student Engagement, and became an academic support specialist from the Springfield College Americorps. These experiences allowed him to engage in community service, activism, and leadership. These values led to a natural affinity for Phi Beta Sigma.
During my sophomore year, I was given a crash course on Greek-life, I learned about their community service, networking, brotherhood, and mentoring among other things—mostly everything that I valued. However, even though I learned about the similarities of each fraternity, I also wanted to know their differences. So, throughout the semester, I did my research… Based on this research, I focused on Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. because of its commitment to service and education. After becoming a Brother, I was jubilant, as this was something for which I was striving since my Sophomore year.
