Feeling as if he already encompassed many of the ideals that other organizations promoted, Kwame welcomed an organization that would also allow him to be himself while enhancing the qualities that he already exuded. Bro. Millar was initiated into Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., via Beta Alpha Chapter in Spring 1995 while attending Tufts University.
Bro. Millar has always worked for mission-driven organizations whose purpose is to help marginalized communities overcome the barriers they face. Whether voter disenfranchisement, workforce development, education reform, and now most recently legal services, the elevation of Black people has been at the forefront of his everyday work. Consistent with Phi Beta Sigma’s motto of “Culture for Service, Service for Humanity,” Bro. Millar currently serves as an active member of The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee at Brooklyn Defender Services. Bro. Millar earned a Bachelor of Arts in English in 1997. He is a native of Brooklyn and from a proud Trinidadian and Tobagonian heritage. Bro. Millar credits his introduction to both mission-driven careers and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc., Beta Alpha Chapter to fellow Beta Alpha Brother Jason Hinton.
