Bro. Ivorite L. Scruggs and Sis. Ruth Tappe-Scruggs

Dr. Ivorite L. Scruggs and his wife Ruth Tappe-Scruggs hold the unique distinction as being the first husband and wife duo to hold the office position as National Presidents of an NPHC organization DR. I. L. Scruggs (Original 1914 Alpha Chapter Charter Member) served as Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. 2nd National President from 1917-1919. Ruth Tappe-Scruggs (Alpha Chapter) served as Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. 6th National President from 1926-1930.
